Illinois Dad Barred From Son He Allegedly Set On Fire

WHEATON, Ill. - A DuPage County judge has extended to two-years an order
of protection that requires a Glendale Heights man to stay away from the son
he is suspected of setting on fire last fall.
Judge C. Stanley Austin's order was imposed against 34-year-old Kaushik
Patel, who authorities say doused his two sons with gasoline November 18th
in the family's home and set them on fire.Patel's 4-year-old son died
January 17th of injuries related to those burns.
Patel, who also was burned in the fire, and his 7-year-old son remain
hospitalized with severe burns.
Authorities have yet to charge Patel formally in the crime, but have said he
committed the acts.
Austin extended the order to February 2, 2010. He also set the next court
date in the domestic allegation of abuse for February 26.
