California Woman Involved in Niece's Sexual Abuse Asks for Prison

Sheila Sikat asked for prison as punishment for helping her boyfriend

videotape sexual assaults of her niece.

Prison is an appropriate punishment, a Southern California woman told the

judge sentencing her for helping her boyfriend videotape sexual assaults on

her 4-year-old niece, MyFOXLA.com reports.

The woman, Sheila Sikat, 28, of Rancho Santa Margarita, appeared before the

judge Friday facing up to 109 years in prison in the case.

MyFOXLA.com reports Sikat's sister and mother asked for leniency, but Sikat

asked for punishment.

"I'm at complete fault," she said. "And I do deserve to go to prison because

I failed to protect my niece."

Sikat was convicted Dec. 17 on 55 sex-related charges, including using a

minor for a sex act, according to MyFOXLA.com.

Sikat's boyfriend, David Shoutyh Hwang, 36, pleaded guilty in 2006 and was

sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. He testified that he gave Sikat

drugs to make her go along with the molestation.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Gary Paer is scheduled to sentence Sikat

on March 6.
