Do you have any funny disaster stories about bringing home a new boyfriend or girlfriend to meet mom and dad? Where is merc....I bet she'll have a good one! lol

Hey Ali,

I guess I missed the transition from devoted single lady to you being hooked up, the last I remember you seemed to be talking about a guy dating and getting too serious.

Congrats, I hope everything works out well for you two.

No disaster stories about the first meetings, my family has always been very supportive of whoever I liked, sometimes I wish they would have helped me avoid a couple of the bad ones but the bad helps to make us strong too.

Heh heh heh....

Oh... that chance meetings between girls that I was sleeping with at the time and the old man.

My father is a "knock and enter" type of guy. He doesn't care if you're decent, sleeping, or whatever; he just knocks, enters, and speaks as he crosses the threshold.

One incident that comes to mind, was on a rainy and overcast early April afternoon. I was in a program at school where those who had part time jobs (a bagger at Winn-Dixie) could leave an hour early and receive a credit for a "work ethics" type grade. On the afternoons that I didn't have to work, I had to stay at school and do homework or whatever until the final bell sound.

That afternoon, before I left for work, I was approached by a girl that I was semi-dating at the time. She convinced me (I'm a cat-cat to soft eyes and velvet scrunchies) to give her three friends and her a ride to their jobs because their ride flaked. So we all piled into my 1981 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight.

Luckily the routes to the other's jobs were easy, because the other two girls worked at the Mall and the other girl worked across the street at a video store (Ahhh... remember VHS?). Once her friends were dropped off, she crawled over the seat and began with the teasing and all.

Being the horny teenager, she and I both went instantly went back to my house and phoned in sick. We went upstairs to my room and we made out for a while... taking turns undressing each other. Getting hot and heavy with little regard to what was going on around us.

I just remember looking up to notice my old man was suddenly in the room. Shocked and embarrassed I looked up at my father and said, "Hey dad, this is Heather.".

I just needed the right one to come along and tame me. That's all. :D

Hahaha!

Did Heather ever get an invite over to a nice family dinner for formal introductions after that incident?

Was there a chair and whip involved? ;)

Again, I am very happy for you Ali, you seem to have covered a lot of rough road to reach this point and if anyone deserves to find happiness, you surely do.

Do you think a wedding might be in your future?

my family is too freaking weird to me anyone I care about, lol.

My Sisters prom date came to my folks house to pick her up, and I yelled to my dad in the back room:

"Dad, Chris is here, and he wants to see your gun collection!"

I thought the poor kid was gonna piss himself! :)

I'm trusted by more women.

Nothing sticks out to mind, prolly because most people are on their best behavior initially...

I can't reveal all his secrets! But I did run the poor guy through the wringer. He almost gave up once, but his persistence paid off in the end.

Thank you, TJ. That's nice of you to say.

A wedding? Yeah....I can actually see myself marrying this man. :)

I don't have one, actually... I rarely took anyone home to meet my parents :p

But... I do have a story about introducing Chris to their friends after we were already married. It's a small world story, that I'm sure I've told before, but probably not here.

My dad's best friend, Johnny, lives in California and about every 5 years, they'd come back to Michigan for the whole summer. The first time they came for a visit, I was about 10 and had the hots for one of his sons, John-John. He was the first boy I kissed and we exchanged letters and stuff for a couple months after they went back home.

I visited them when I was 17 and we picked up where we left off for the next 3 weeks.

Fast forward about 15 years. I'm newly married. Johnny's back in town for the summer and even though all the kids are grown, they come too. When they're visiting it's party!party!party! time (or was back then before everyone got old and sober). One night the whole gang got together for a BBQ and I dragged Chris to meet everyone. I was really excited about it, too.

We arrived and I'm taking him around and introducing him to everyone... saving John-John for last. We get to him and he's standing with his girlfriend. I begin the introductions: "This is my husband, Chris.... and this is John-John." They shake hands and I move along to the girlfriend. Before I can begin, Chris has a sh t-stunned look on his face and says, "OMG! Hi! How've you been?"

I look back and forth between them trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

Turns out they had dated for about 6 months when Chris was stationed in Alameda.

So... my first boyfriend. His last girlfriend. 3000 miles away from their home. Both in my parents back yard. Weird.

She also had a kid, which freaked my mother out. Thought the kid might be Chris', but the kid was around before Chris made his appearance. ;)

OMG Mercury, talk about small world. I had something similar happen to me as well. I had dated this guy in high school who I was madly in love with. Well long story short, he joined the Navy, I moved away for years. Eighteen years later I come home from work one day and my son's dad has his new buddy over - turns out to be Doug. My-ex. I just about fell over. I couldn't hang out - too awkward.
