Left-hander Madison Bumgarner was perfect through seven innings before settling for a one-hit shut-out in the San Francisco Giants 8-0 victory over the San Diego Padres. Bumgarner on Saturday had retired the first 23 batters he faced when Padres pinch-hitter Melvin Upton came to the plate with two outs in the eighth inning. Upton lined a clean single to center field on a 2-1 pitch to break up Bumgarner's bid for a rare perfect game.
