Authorities in Burundi have withdrawn the accreditation of a journalist working for France24 television, forcing him to leave the crisis-hit central African nation, sources said Thursday. French reporter Thais Brouck, who has been covering weeks of protests against President Pierre Nkurunziza's controversial bid to stand for a third consecutive term in office, said he had been informed of the decision by Burundi's state communications body, the CNC. A CNC official confirmed the decision, saying there were reports from security officials that the journalist's mere presence had encouraged demonstrations, and that he had violated the terms of his accreditation -- which was to cover elections.
