I don't think we are as free as we think we are.

U.S. marks Independence Day amid tighter security

Fourth of July festivities and patriotic observances took place across
the United States on Wednesday under heightened security after Britain's
recent terror scares. Tens of thousands of people braved heavy rain to
watch fireworks in New York, while dry weather curtailed celebrations
elsewhere

When propaganda tells us that our safety is in peril every single second of
every single day, from immigrants, terrorists, bad food, etc., people would
rather give up freedom for safety.

They confiscated my hacksaw blade at the DC fireworks/festivities. I
could have kept it and not entered. Not too bad, really. For future
reference though, a hacksaw blade isn't much of a weapon. LIke, way
less than an umbrella.
