can't get rid of google in manage add-ons in i.e.9

i am not given the choice to remove google as a search provider in "manage add-ons". if i unchech the box "search in address bar" for google it unchecks for the other search providers. no matter what order i have the providers listed in google comes up by default. help me get rid of ggogle!
