Changing product key for Technet Evaluation to Volume Licensing fails

Good day,

I would prefer to change my RTM (NOT RC!!) Technet Evaluation copy of Windows 7 Enterprise to a copy with our volume licensing key. On changing the product key I get the following error:

"The product key you typed cannot be used to activate Windows on this computer."

If I click for more details on the error:

"Code 0xC004C008

The activation server determined that the specified product key could not be used."

Our KMS server is working.

I would prefer not to have to perform a fresh install.

Any thoughts?
