Check Disc won't finish and keeps doing it over and over

Hello: please help?? I ran check disc utility and it stops at 11% then goes to a black screen saying Diskette drive 0 seek failure. I have a disc with OS on it but can't get it to work. This has been going on for 2 days. Options f1 and f2. If I press f1 then the utility starts again. I'm puzzled. Any help would be appreciated!!
