Chinese aggression on Arunachal Pradesh?

By a Staff Reporter

Sentinel Assam

Monday, May 7, 2007

Guwahati, May 7 - BJP MP Kiren Rijiju from Arunachal

Pradesh has made a startling claim that China has moved 20

kilometres into the Indian territory which has led the old

and contentious issue of border incursion in Arunachal

Pradesh to crop up once again between India and China,

according to a report by the Times Now.

However, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has

denied the aggression. Dorjee told The Sentinel at the

Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport on his way to New

Delhi: "This is not true. There is no report of aggression

on our land."

Meanwhile, Rijiju claimed that China has moved up 20 km

into Arunachal. The MP said: "There has been a Chinese

incursion in our country at Sumdorong Chu in Arunachal

Pradesh. It has been continuing for a long time. The

Chinese are continuing to occupy part of our territory. I

have written to Government of India and raised the issue in

the Parliament. The Government of India is not accepting

the incursion openly. But defence personnel do acknowledge

that this is happening and the Chinese are occupying our

land."

Though Rijiju claimed that the Ministry of External Affairs

had admitted to Chinese occupation of Arunachal Pradesh,

yet the Centre has denied the Chinese incursion allegation.

Defence Secretary Shekhar Dutt said that Sumdorong Chu is a

disputed land and the Chinese Army is active there. China

has been claiming the area as their own, while India

contests such claim. India and China have agreed to patrol

the disputed area. Chinese army has been patrolling within

the disputed area. India has built a helipad in the

disputed area. Both the governments have agreed to share

the helipad.

Though there has been considerable talk of resolving border

disputes between the two countries, both India and China

have avoided talking about it publicly.

Meanwhile, the Army has denied the BJP MP's claims.

Speaking for the GOC of 4 Corps Lt Gen R K Chabra, PRO Lt

Col Narendra Singh said, "These allegations are completely

baseless and there is no evidence of any Chinese

incursion."

The two countries have different perceptions about the

border. Experts, however, say that the differences are

purely of a technical nature. The contours used by the two

countries for the demarcation of the Line of Actual Control

(LAC) do not have the same "intervals". This leads to lack

sharp demarcation in some places. That is why in the late

1980s the Chinese moved through the border a few kilometres

into the Tawang area.

Despite 22 years of continuous border negotiations, the

longest between any two states in modern history, India is

the only country with which China has not settled its land

frontiers or even fully defined a line of actual control.

China occupies 38,000 sq km of Indian territory in Aksai

Chin, 5,180 sq km in the Shaksam valley in Pakistan-

occupied Kashmir (PoK), and claims 90,000 sq km in

Arunachal.

China is not known for having withdrawn its claims or

making any compromise on them.

The renaming of the 4,056-km-long border as the Line of

Actual Control (LAC) under the 1993 Border Peace and

Tranquillity Agreement between India and China has made

India vulnerable to Chinese aggression on its territory.

According to the Ministry of Defence annual report, 2001-

2002, "From time to time, on account of differences of

perceptions of the LAC, situations have arisen on the

ground that could have been avoided had the LAC

clarification been completed."

The Indian Army reported about 120 incidents of China's

People's Liberation Army's (PLA's) territorial violation in

1999, 96 in 2000, 98 in 2001, and 90 in 2002.

Well it does not really matter, doesn't it ?

China is due to move to Mongolia anytime now, all the more since

Mongolia belongs to China, the same way that Tibet always belonged to

China indeed !

China is going to move to Australia next ... Not only do I authorize

such move but in fact warmly encourage it !

Australasia anyway was discovered in the first place by Chinese

navigators, and hence belongs to China since the dawn of time

indeed.

They called it the Parrots land

With best regards

If you are truly the greatest mining pioneer Australia of all times,

maybe you can help the people in Africa to mine and process the

minerals of Africa and help raise the living standards of the African

people. Go to Africa, young man.

India should immediately move a small advance force of 10 million

rangers into the area!
