Computer is running slow and freezes sometimes after I installed MSE. How can I make it run...

My computer is running slow and freezes sometimes after I installed MSE. I had a antivirus installed before I installed MSE, that caused problems so I removed the first antivirus (still have MSE). How can I make it run faster?

My computer seemed pretty slow to me so I decided to do a few things to help it run faster. I updated windows and my original antivirus software, freed up disk space, tried defraging but that took a long time so i canceled it. Then I installed MSE and my computer started to run slower and would freeze up, I found out that your not supposed to have two antivirus programs at once so I uninstalled the original antivirus and kept MSE. My computer is still running as slow as it did when it had both antivirus' installed, also it takes longer to boot up. Is there anything that I could do to solve this?
