Concealing/Faking IP Addresses

I was wondering if any1 knew how i can hide or fake my ip address.

i am a user of adsl and as such i have the same IP address 24/7. As such i wish to make my address "invisble" or at last have the ability to alter it on will.

i have seen and heard about many identity freuds, hacks, credit card theft etc etc.

if any1 could help that would be great.......oh and also i would prefer if the soloution was free

i don't know how you can change it, or that you could change it.

if you're worried about people viewing your ip address, then why are you on a message board?

Don't hack, or try and fraud other people of their money!!! It's bad and illegal! I hope you're not asking this for fraudulent or malicious purposes.

I barely have any knowledge in that area, but wouldn't you have to get a static ip (Or something called that) for it to change every minute or something? Which is avilable from your ISP or something? I dunno, that's what I heard from this guy. He never has 1 IP, it just changes constantly.

I think they're asking so they can protect themselves againt such malicious purposes :)

I didn't even really know it was possible. Yes these hacks and such do happen, but they're rare, and can someone actually get your money and such from knowing your IP address? Unless you do internet banking or something, it sounds unlikely.

Omg oops! Thanks uwantme2b! I didn't read it properly lol. Sorry!!!

In that case, yeah. I don't think they can do anything with your bank account as long as you don't enter your credit card details into dodgy sites. There are also e-mails going around that require you to click on a link to a site and entering your password and such. Don't do it. It's just common sense really. You're pretty safe.

You can protect yourself from hackers by making sure you have your firewall on at all time! I'm not sure which one I've got, but it does help. Especially when you're on IDSL (That's like broadband right?) which is connected to the internet at all times and more prone to internet bastards targeting you. Don't accept files from people you don't know, and don't provoke "1337 h4x0r" people online lol =P You don't really need to change your ip address all the time to protect yourself.

that wont help. i can bypass a lot of firewalls within two minutes. and if i can do it, others can do it lol.

if your ip changed constantly it would be a lot harder, but if ther person was truly dedicated, they could do it. but it still helps

this reminds me of that funny hacker story thread...anyway, back to topic

you can't rely on a firewall to be your only protection

Hyper lol, that scared me! I thought firewalls were all good lol. I'm definately not going to get on your wrong side on a dark night *Hugs computer*.

What else do you need to protect your computer from hackers apart from a firewall then? I want some extra precautions for this computer since it's kinda new and I don't want **** happening to it :S I've been threatened by someone saying he'll hack me like a year ago. It was pretty funny, nothing happened to my computer anyway but he's just a moron *rolls eyes*. Obviously there's also like, spybot and ad-aware, but if there's anything else, let me know :) Thanks!

lol me too

but um, as long as you don't **** people off you'll be fine. cuz the people who can really do some damage wont go after random people. and the ones that do go after random people, only know how to move folders n stuff.

You might get the occasional geek living in his mom's basement that know what hes dong that will hack random computers, but thats not a commom occurance.

Dealing with hackers as much as I do, there is no true way to fake a ip. Ip's can always be traced. Even if you change it. Don't do illegal stuff on the net, there is no way to really hide.

Haha, thank *** you're lazy. That's scary that someone could actually do that.
