Guest R. C. White
Hi, David. Flash has given me no trouble on Win7 Ultimate x64 - except the well-known problem that it will not run in 64-bit IE8. You probably know about the Adobe TechNote on this subject, but just in case: Flash Player support on 64-bit operating systems http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/6b3af6c9.html In short, Adobe will not run in a 64-bit browser, but it runs fine in 32-bit IE8 on 64-bit Windows. But I don't know how that impacts the problem you are having. RC -- R. C. Guest Dennis Pack
David B: I vaguely remember a similar issue with IE7 during the Vista beta. The problem is one of the add-ons in IE8 32-bit is causing a conflict and crash. In IE8 32-bit go to tools/manage add-ons, then disable all add-ons, verify that the problem is gone then enable the add-ons one at a time until the conflicting add-on is found and then can be disabled. Another way to verify that the cause for the problem is an add-on conflict is to go to All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Internet Explorer(no add-ons), open IE if the crash doesn't occur the cause is a corrupt add-on. Have a great day. -- Dennis Pack Win-7 Enterprise x64 "David B." <daveb@nomail.net> wrote in message news:eq07i8#LKHA.3276@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl...<span style="color:blue"> > I'm aware of that yes, that's why IE x64 isn't crashing on me (on the same > websites), no flash. Guest David B.
I've already verified the adobe flash add-on is the cause of the problem via uninstall and reinstall of the plug-in. Guest Bobby Johnson
It's not the cause of any such problems here. I have Win 7 x64 on 3 computers that all have Adobe Flash and have never experienced any problems. Need to do more research. Maybe a conflict between Flash and one or more other add-ins, or some other software on the computer, but not Adobe Flash by itself! Guest John Barnes
What is to disagree with? I, also, have no problems on 3 different 64-bit systems. It is working on most other 64-bit systems or there would be more postings here. Since it is your computer setup that is having the problem, you have a conflict in your software universe that is causing your problem. Guest John Barnes
In the universe of computers don't you think it is probable that a number of them would have the same incompatible pair of programs? It is up to you whether you try to solve it or just throw your hands up, but millions are using Flash with no problems (though many don't like it).
