Guest Kickin' Ass and Takin' Names
A New Yorker who for 40 years passed himself off as Vietnam war hero who had been decorated for extreme gallantry was sentenced to community service Wednesday after being outed as a fraud. According to prosecutors, Louis Lowell McGuinn claimed to have been a lieutenant colonel in the US special forces and had used his fake military history since 1968 to get work or to win kudos at social functions. His military records showed that McGuinn had indeed been in the US Army and served in Vietnam, but was discharged as a private without being decorated. In 2006, McGuinn, who is now in his 60s, attended a ball in New York's glitzy Pierre Hotel wearing the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts, awarded for being wounded in action. The Distinguished Service Cross, the second-highest military decoration of the US Army, is awarded for acts of extraordinary heroism. A real lieutenant colonel and West Point graduate, Mark Kimey, instantly spotted there was something not quite right about McGuinn and reported him. "They're always (Navy) SEALs or special forces," Kimey told the New York Daily News last year. "Nobody ever masquerades as a cook." McGuinn pleaded guilty last December under a recently passed law known as the Stolen Valor Act, and was on Wednesday sentenced in a New York court to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service. Prosecutors accused McGuinn of insulting soldiers who had been decorated for genuine acts of selfless heroism, some of whom were awarded the Distinguished Service Cross posthumously. "Fraudulently wearing these medals is an affront to their memory, and an affront to the heroism of the surviving service men and women who were legitimately awarded them," prosecutors said. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2007/05/01/2007-05-01_vet_medals_tarnished_in_phoney_hero_scam.html

Claimed that the horrors he witnessed in Viet Nam turned him into an anti-war protester. Unfortunately, he spent his entire military service on the east coast, not of Viet Nam. There are plenty of left-wing wannabes, some of the more successful Then there's your buddy Capt Al Hubbard... And Senator Tom Harkin... And Senator John Kerry's Christmas in Cambodia... Scott Thomas Beauchamp... While not quite a Professor, there's Aidan Delgado a religion major - ironic considering the prohibitions against "false witness." And let's not forget the IVAW's Jesse MacBeth, the anti-war star of 2006, who spoke out about atrocities he committed as a U.S. Army Ranger. He claimed to have killed more than 200 people, (not a body count of 1803, but a lot) Trouble is, none of MacBeth's claims were true either. -Dai Uy sends

Surely you can read the term "we" in the above quip? And further, I have told you several times my reference to a "team" was my common and repeated reference to every unit I was assigned to during my entire time in Vietnam. I also provided the term "estimated" in the above quip which means I really did not know the true number. Even you with your propensity to use fraud, lies, false accusations and obloquy should be still be able to read on a 6th grade level. But I will make you a deal you cannot refuse that is if you believe in your honesty: I will take everything you have said about me based upon your misrepresented and fraudulent excerpts of my post fragments, along with what your gang leader Nigel Brooks has also said with the use of his forgeries, fraud and false accusations, to independent and highly qualified investigators with an extensive (retired military) background and multiple degrees in law, and ask them for their opinions in regards to your accuracy and veracity, of which I will then publish pro or con. Do you agree that I should now invite independent third party experts to review your and your gang's tirades of BS and fraud, or are you going to hide from this offer as well? You will not be required to pay a dime for his and other independent third party opinions unless of course I am forced to file a lawsuit against you to stop your stalking, and then I will ask for all legal fees, expert expenses and damages. I needed to contact these experts anyway if I wanted to sue you and Brooks and other members of your gang. So I have been talking to several different people about your stalking campaign against me over the past few months. I think you will be very impressed with the qualifications of the experts I have found and are willing to testify as qualified experts. Time to walk the walk Mr. Rau. Do you agree to a "independent review" of your statements about me? I would think you would want to invite an independent and highly qualified analysis of your stalking campaign you have been waging against me for more than two years now - not unless of course you know you are lying and you are going to be exposed as a lying fraud and smear merchant by expert investigators? I will even allow you to post your side of the issue along with mine when I submit my rebuttal to your fraud. Certainly you and Nigel Brooks are not going to cower and hide from this offer of an independent review of your accusations about me are you Mr. Rau? What possible excuse can you now have to duck, dodge, cower and hide from independent and highly qualified investigators reviewing your volumes of accusations about me? I have reviewed your past usenet postings concerning your experiences in the United States military in Vietnam and elsewhere. I have compared the claims you made to your actual military records which I obtained through the auspices of the Freedom of Information Act. Having compared your postings (which I note you petitioned the google archive to remove) and your records, I am convinced that you grossly misrepresented your experiences. You simply are not the kind of person who is to be trusted. To paraphrase what a the Third Circuit said about you - I am disturbed that you have couched your arguments in dramatic hyperbole obfuscating the real issues. Indeed, I am satisfied that you have mischaracterized the facts. I trust that this clears up any misunderstanding you might have concerning my view of your truthfulness or your capacity to even recognize the truth. -- Nigel Brooks

Every one of my postings to usenet can be reviewed by anyone through the Google archives. In an effort to prevent "independent review" you have petitioned to have many of your more egregious postings removed from that archive. > I would think you would want to invite an > independent and highly qualified analysis of your stalking campaign you > have been waging against me for more than two years now - not unless of > course you know you are lying and you are going to be exposed as a lying > fraud and smear merchant by expert investigators? A lying fraud and smear merchant? I can come up with a few examples of yours... Apparently you think I should....

SNIP Taking a very quick look at your turgid, convoluted posting, here is a brief statement AND then, a couple of quick questions. FIRST: Your statement is semantically loaded, weighted with the results you will obtain. SECOND: just how can you have any investigation without allowing IMPARTIAL examiners full and complete access to the statements you have spewed forth on the UseNet over the years as you posted many of your claims? THIRD: why can not those examiners publish the results... why must such come cahnneled through you? FINALLY: perhaps it would be better to use someone at the Disabled American Veterans, or the Veterans of Foreign Wars? I feel sure that we might be able to obtain one of the Officers of such an organization in either Vancouver, Washington or even Seattle, Washington.... ---Mac, the Medic
