Former Boston Red Sox general manager Mike Hazen has been hired by the Arizona Diamondbacks as executive vice president in a bid to boost the struggling Major League Baseball club. The Diamondbacks won their only World Series title 15 years ago but have not reached the playoffs or managed a winning season since 2011 and have won only one of four playoff series since taking the crown. Hazen will be charged with assembling talent after seeing Dave Dombrowski, the Red Sox president of player operations, make the player decisions in Boston.
