Because it's a 2 party system. There's no real alternative. Voting for minor parties or delegates only throws more weight behind the main 2, Labor and Liberal. There is no alternative. Only morons run for government. It's a prerequisite apparently. And we all know there's no such thing as an honest politician. No matter how you slice it so-called Democracy is only a lightly-veiled cloak of Communism. We have to vote anyway and our hands are tied regardless who we vote for. We get fined of we don't. Or worse.

Obama's already considering a bunch of Clinton-era militarized minded hawks, and neocons, so don't put your hopes in Obama. America, just like Aus seems to have, has a two party system. Like I've said for years, if one party screws up it just waits until the other one does the same...

 

people need to get down to the grassroots and vote for those smaller parties with real issues and causes, or start their own movement, or both

yeah.. im not thrilled about Obama being president... at all. i'm not big into politics, so don't try to debate me on this- i will definitely lose. but coming from a home with morals and values, he stands for none of them. would i rather have McCain as a president? well, in comparison with Obama- yes. no one is going to be the PERFECT person for the job. they will all have some policies and opinions we're not going to agree with. so.. yeah- i forgot where i was going with this

sorry to hijack the thread for a moment but, I don't think its at all about family values. the two parties just make it about which man you'd rather have a beer with so no one actually pays attention to real issues... you've got two parties that behave and vote often in unison on important things, and like noam chomsky says, their opinions are at odds with the ones of 80% of the population. but they disguise that, and hold your votes hostage by saying you're wasting them should you ever vote for a third party, a party that would actually care about your things
