Guest MyGposts Posted January 17, 2012 Share Posted January 17, 2012 We to plan to deploy Windows 7 64-bit on brand new systems using WAIK and MDT. These are the first PCs we've seen with EFI. When setting up a PC manually, it now prompts to choose EFI or not. When choosing the EFI boot option, it loads 3 partitions on the hard disk. The hard disks are well under 2TB in size. Is there any reason to use the EFI option? It seems to add unneeded complexity to the installation for no benefit I can see. When I look this up, I see Microsoft Technet saying we need to run a bunch of extra commands to install Windows 7 on EFI. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744321(WS.10).aspx I don't see why we would need to do what the link suggests when it installed fine using both boot options without doing any of that when installed by DVD.
