I call a bunch of my buddies "Emo kids" to piss them off when I'm in a good mood =)

 

I guess I have been called that when I don't use my girly font and just type a lot of stuff. I don't take it as an offense though. They can call me whatever they want . I think it's when you act emo. I've never heard anyone call somebody "Emo" because of their music tastes yet.

well i listen to some emo and am like 1% (im 99.9% metalhead/maggot) emo...i have been called emo.i was running errands for my teachers so i walked into this one class and this gay kid goes oh look its emo girl and i was like your mom's emo and hes all shes more emo then you and i was like then thats good.

aghhh im anti-emo TOTALLY (not music necessarily). Well, more WANNABE emo. like "My cat got run over by a car, my girlfriend broke up with me, and my mom is yelling at me to clean my room boo fucking hoo im going to go slit my wrists now." yeah dont think these kinda people dont exist. one of my "friends" is a wannabe emo and i couldnt be anymore annoyed! shes literally has scars on her arm because her mom and teen brother fight. self mutilation because theres fighting in your house? THERES FIGHTING IN EVERY HOUSE YOU ATTENTION WHORE! DOES YOUR MOM GET DRUNK EVERY NIGHT? DOES YOUR DAD HIT YOU? ARE THEY ON THE VERGE OF DIVORCE? yeah talk to me then sweetie. and she DOESNT stop complaining. im in the right mind to slap her then tell her how selfish and naive shes being, when there are so many people out there, who have it a million times worse, and there she is. complaining about her mom making her clean the cupboard. wow kinda went off there ...sorry...but.....ugh.

Emo is short for Emotional right? I've always though emo just described depressed, highly emotional kids with black hair, baggy pants and tight t shirt wearing fashion sense and great grammar skills lol. Bleh.

What Is Emo?

The short and simple answer is that Emo is Hardcore Punk music with sensitive and emotional lyrics. The music is epitomized by post-Grunge, edgy rock with explosive energy mixed with sensitivity. Emotional lyrics about sadness, love and even anger are common lyrical themes. There is also a subculture of young people that are considered Emo. The casual Emo garb is faded blue jeans or slightly oversized work pants accompanied by a secondhand T-shirt with an out of place logo, bad Heavy Metal tees work well too. Good shoes would be Converse Chuck Taylor low-tops or old skool low-top Vans. The more extreme clothes of choice would include horn-rimmed glasses, cardigan sweaters, dorky polo shirts, pants that are a bit too short and hair that is spiky or messy in the back with straight cut bangs.

 

I don't know if I should find some pics of people to emphasise this, but it's really quite easy to spot an "emo" person ^.^ Some people think it's gay, but I find it hott lol.

Yes, which is why i have been talking about WANNABE emos, since i first started posting in this thread. i was referring to myself when comparing her mom yelling at her to do her chores to my mom getting drunk, dad hitting me, and them being on the verge of divorce. and i dont talk about my shit to anybody because even i dont think i have the right to complain.

Sure, I get called Emo...and goth and insane crazy quiet girl who'll kill everyone and loner. (last one is true) Being called Emo I don't mind, but my friends call me Emo to make fun of me. ( I don't even know what the diff is between emo and goth! What is it??)

Emo is such a dumb term, I got called emo by my friend and I asked her what it ment she said it ment when people are "prep" and "punk" I was about to slap her because first of all Im not a "prep" or "punk". Why do the have to call it emo though?!

Emo kids are also suppose to cry a lot, whine a lot, write poetry a lot as well. And they're umm, suppose to wear dorky glasses, plaids, be vegan and really skinny to fit into "girl pants". Emo is a label and a stereotype... I know many "emo" kids, they like post hardcore music and dress in that fashion... they aren't depressives, they don't cut themselves cos life beats down on them a bit. Life beats down on everyone once in a while, and some people cut themselves. Yes they are emotional, but that doesn't make them "emo kids"

Emo is a fashion and a genre of music (a very loose one at that), not a way of life.

 

I'm a depressive, I've been diagnosed with clinical depression, and yes I like the music and the clothes, but I don't class myself as an "emo kid".

emo is one of the dumbest sterotypes and it is probably a insult to 75% of emo people

everyone thinks they are so depressed and stuff....but its just the whiny ones that ruin their name and get so annoying when they talk about suicide and dont kill themselves...not that i want them to die but it gets retarded if they go on everyday about how tonight they are going to die...why dont they just die already.
