Guest patony72 Posted January 2, 2012 Share Posted January 2, 2012 I attempted to allow a program through firewall and next screen said not using recommended settings. When I clicked to use recommended settings it gave me error code 0x80070424 and told me that the firewall is off. I attempted to open security center and was denied access. I was logged on as administrator. I have been trying to get Icewind Dale running, it boots up then shuts down even if I run as administrator or use older OS system. I thought that maybe I had not allowed it through the firewall and found this problem. I use my PC alot for my college classes so I need help. I took A+ classes last spring and created 2 repair discs, that worked before on our other Vista PC and my Window 7 PC. This time neither will boot up. I did not get any discs with my Dell desktop. I am running Windows 7 64bit. Do I need to buy a Windows 7 clean install disc, format my hard drive, then do a clean install? I tried a restore point and it actually worked for the first time (we had 2 previous PC's and our other Vista and Restore didn't work). I still have this error problem, though.
