okay now that N3RD reminded me...i start my highschool career in like three weeks. holy **** am i freaking out. socially i dont care much. its the academics im worried about. in eighth grade i took advanced classes so in ninth im taking 10th grade classes in math and science (biology and geometry) well first of all they're advanced placement 10th grade level classes (not what reg. 10th graders take but like the smart ones. its called K level here in houston) so yeah if i fail i go into regular level geo and bio then if i fail i have to take algebra and ipc all over again. (im more worried about geometry because i hate it. jeeze i dont care about the volume in the form of x of a cylinder!) but im also under a shadow. my sister went to my school and now my parents are like you have to work harder to over pass her. yerrr but my biggest fear. if my gpa drops and doesnt get better and i dont get a scholarship im not going to college.

ADVICE?

Study hard, try to cater to yourself..your sister is your sister she is not you and you don't need to surpass her.

Don't listen much to them.I think it's probably only a way for you to push yourself more towards your studies. If you'll give it too much thought, you might lose yur mind. ;)

Well..im doing my O Levels 2nd year. That's like the 10 class. Im taking like all the sciences and math n stuff. Although i hate Math and totally suk at it, i am doing it. Yeah. like ss1 said, study hard. My parents are also like u have to surpass your sister, because she is through with her O Levels and she had straight A's. And they expect me to do better cuz ive got 1 more subject...they just do it so we can work harder, and do better. But they only got me under more pressure..-_-

I also suck at maths. Try talking to your parents. You're different from your sister, there are things w/c she can do that you can't and vice versa.Otherwise, you'll tend to be rebellious,w/c isn't quite a good thing.

Just don't care about your parents...you should study hard for yourself...all that matters is that you feel good..don't care about the other people...

first of all... chillax. XD

Your parents seem to be trying to live thru you... .Don't let that happen. You are your own person. If this school thing is what you want then go for it. Just take is easy. I'm in my 3rd year and honors EVERYTHING. Just chill & everything will be fine. Don't stress yourself about it. I have an entire way of just organizing yourself so you wont always be in a rush. You just gotta take it slow, my dear.

PM if you wanna talk or anything

Highschool is overly.............. well its made to sound more important then it actually is, i'm not American so I don't know the Highschool system there but here with dont have GPA n such I found it to be an enjoyable ride with up's and down's at the end of the day I found it alot more enjoyable and easier then I thought it would be. Shame the same cannot be said bout college lol.

My tips from experience:

  • Dont get distracted, make sure you have a good clean place to study/do homework.

  • Talk to your teachers, even if you hate them! They will usually want to help you out if you dont understand something.

  • Dont try to cram for big tests and START PROJECTS EARILY so you dont get overwhelmed.

  • If you dont do great the first year, DONT WORRY! Your Junior (3rd) year is the most important, and your freshman (1st) year is the least important.

  • If a class is really too hard, talk to your counselor earily and switch into a regular class, its better to do well in a regular class than to do bad in an advanced class. BUT DONT WAIT TOO LONG TO DO IT!

Um, thats all I can think of, Ive made some mistakes myself in the past, but these helped me fix things up. Now Im headed into my Junior year and things are alot better. Overall High School is really fun, and the workload isnt too bad as long as you dont let it get the best of you.

thanks you guys its just that my sister did so kick *** in high school and in college. and they just want me to succeed like her. she even tells me im better at school than she was because im better at math and i love science so **** much. its just pressure. i know but if i screw up i DONT GO TO COLLEGE. like i wanna go to Rice University or Art Center College of Design.

1. Rice is one of the most expensive and prestigious universities in Texas.

2. Art Center in in Cali and has no room and board. and i have to be a kick *** artist which means art throughout highschool.

3. buuuutttttt i need extracurricular activities too. for both schools.

ehhhhhhh....i have a headache now. :(

Freshmen year high school is easier than 8th grade middle school. (Not academic-wise)

Unless the art college is ivy-league or private, it probably doesn't require much to get in. Some don't even require SATs or ACTs

You sound like you are in the same situation that I found my self in a year ago.. and I made it out EXCELLENT.. I had all the same teachers my sister did.. and my mom worked at the school.. and my parents told me I had better make straight A's.. I was so ****** I thought about failing a class, but then I realized I do well on my own and make the grades I do, because I want to go to a good college. I found it is alot easier if you make friends with ATLEAST someone in everyclass that way you have someone to talk about the work with, IF you ever get worried out the workload.. I also to the advanced classes.. **** I took more then my sister did.. and I made A's in all classes but two, but I won't go into that because I had some beef with those teachers.. Like follow all of Unhinged rules.. because those are the ones to go by.. and HAVE FUN DAMNIT!

i'm sorry but no parent should say stuff like that to their child. my daughter has just takend her SAT's and all i said to her was aslong as she has tried hard it doesn't matter what results she got. she did work hard and she got a level 5 in literacy wich is the higest you can get, she was average at everything else.

your mum and ada shouldn't push you to be better than your sister. my advice is do what you can and be proud of yourself no matter what anyone else says, you know how hard you have worked and thats all that matters :)
