Valley teen arrested for sodomy
A Valley teenager is in juvenile detention, facing 2 counts of second degree
sodomy.
Investigators say the 16-year-old sodomized a 13-year-old boy at Lexington
High school which is in Lauderdale county.
People in Lexington can't believe this has happened in their hometown.
Lexington School is the hub for this community and it was here the incident
took place, Friday after school and before the game.
"Another band student came to my residence and reported it to me," said
Augie Hendershot.
That's how the investigation started.
The 16-year-old would be turned over to Lauderdale County juvenile
officials, charged with 2 counts of sodomy.
It's a bitter pill, especially for concerned parents.
"I'm concerned. I have 2 children I'd hate for it to happen to one of my
children," says Shaun Shapley.
"Well I have nieces and nephews here and with all the raping going on I'm
concerned they may be raped their self," says Tonya Riddle.
Part of the frustration is because there are so many rumors.
Most people love this community and have nothing but praise for it.
"As far as a town in the south I couldn't think of a better place to raise
children we have no crime in this town," says Clint Freeman.
The other boy, the 13-year-old, is suspended until the board of education
meets on the 11th.
The police chief also wanted us to remind parents this is an isolated
incident and they should not be afraid to send their children to school.
