PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. -- A weather-related accident that happened two weeks
ago is still having a profound effect on one Upstate family.

Allen Remillard's troubles began when a delivery van slid off the road and
crashed into the house that he was renting. Now, more than two weeks later,
his troubles are far from over.

On Jan. 17, the Coke delivery van slid out of control and crashed into
Remillard's bedroom.

"He had hit a patch of ice. I don't know how fast he was going, but he hit a
patch of ice and put his brakes on, and the next thing anybody knows, poof,
through here, and he took out just about this entire wall," Remillard said
inside what was left of his bedroom.

Remillard said the crash set in motion a chain of events that is threatening
to leave him and his family homeless.

He said the crash left him broke because he had no insurance. The rental
house was declared unsafe, and he said moving his family elsewhere is not an
option.

"We don't have the money. We're not rich people. We work. We earn our money.
We're not on public assistance, and now all of a sudden everything's been
pulled right out from under us," Remillard said.

Since the crash, Remillard said he has been living in a hotel at the expense
of Coca-Cola, which said it is paying for the room because it was a Coke van
that crashed into the rental house.

But Remillard said he believes his time at the hotel will expire this week
and that his problems will get even bigger.
