Giants sign Korean prospect Hwang on minor league deal

The San Francisco Giants have signed South Korean infielder Hwang Jae-Gyun on a minor league deal to strengthen their options at third base, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on its website. Hwang, 29, could earn a $1.5 million payday if he manages to force his way onto the roster for the Giants upcoming Major League Baseball season. Hwang is reported to be the first Korean player to sign for the Giants, who tried out Lee Hak-Ju in a training camp last year but did not sign him.
