Gigabot/Yahoo/Google Spider, what?

What is a Gigabot Spider, Yahoo Spider, and a Google Spider? I saw this today under the link of 'Currently Active Users' and it listed them. What is it?

I believe they're bots that crawl through the site gathering keywords and sending them to different search engines. They basically help bring more traffic to the site by getting LPF higher in ranking in search engines when a certain keyword is searched for. I very much doubt that made any sense.
