Hall of Fame coach Tarkanian dies

Jerry Tarkanian, famed for building the University of Nevada at Las Vegas into a collegiate basketball powerhouse and for feuding with the NCAA, died on Wednesday at the age of 84. Tarkanian's son, Danny, confirmed the news via Twitter. "Coach Tark, my father, the greatest man I have ever known, passed today, to take his place in heaven," Danny Tarkanian wrote on the social networking site. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Tarkanian died at a Las Vegas hospital after being admitted on Monday.
