Hardest Language to Learn

Hey peeps,

 

Just wondering what language to you is hardest to learn. Even though I was born in Aus I'd have to say English is the hardest to learn. All the silent letters in words like knight and castle. The wierd spelling patterns that don't follow like put and cut. And there are so may words for one word like big, huge, enormous I could go on all day.

 

So what do you think?

english has been proven to be the hardest, so id have to go with that too.

but other than english, id have to say french only cuz i almost failed french class, but thats the only other one ive tried to learn.

English? hard to learn? can any of you read japanese and chinese characters????? other languages like french, tagalog etc etc have the sam alphabet so they can atleast TRY to sound things out. but if ya give someone from another country a book with chinese characters...i dont think theres a way to sound those out.

omg im lithuanian and u say english is hard....dam ppl say something in english and ill translate it in lithuanian... ull broke ure tongue tryin 2 spell it....

how can someone say that english is hard to learn? the reasons you mention are what, spelling? french is also difficult to learn but languages like finnish, german, icelandic, basque, faroese are really hard for immigrants to learn so i'd have to say those languages because i don't really know shit about any other languages that are hard to learn

Every language is hard in their own way.

I thought that Estonian is supposed to easy because it is my mother tongue, but it just recently turned out that it's like impossible. I tryed learnign Finnish, what is similar to Estonian, but was hard. So I quit. Somehow I have never had problems with English. I think it will get hard some day. Still in my opinion the hardest is Russian. It has some easy stuff too, but it keeps going so not understandable and stuff. The alphabet was fun to learn.

Like people say around me " You'll allways learn a language better if you can use it. "

4 me russian is 1 of the easyest langueges...

i totally agree! with other languages that use a normal alphabet, you could just try to figure out what it means... but languages that use characters?? forget it... it's just too hard....

English is such a VERY easy language.... I can speak, write and listen in English and my native language is Portuguese (this one, YES, it's a difficult language!! Try! =P).... but I think Japanese, Chinese n German r the most difficult!...

English is way easy. I've heard portuguese is hard I think the most difficult languages to learn are japanese, chinese, greek... I don't know, german is supposed to be pretty hard too. Polish must be hard and so must be finnish... There must be so many difficult languages!

And language which I can't learn for 9 years- German- my horror!!!!!!!!!!!

I think english isn't so hard too learn i think it's rather easy...

French is hard too learn!

i think hebrew is hard to learn cauz its confusing and one of my friends said german is hard to learn

Yeah that´s true,thanx god I don´t have to study chinese or japanese cuz if i had to I would be crazy by now

Despite I´m from Argentina,and I do speak a bit of english,I have to keep learning about it,cuz I like it,it has their difficulties but if i give it a try it wouldn´t have to be a problem for me tho.

But I think the most difficults languages to learn are:

Chinese

Japanese

Arabic

German

etc.

All those languages that have symbols are very hard for me:p

Rusian

Actually, Japanese is quite an easy language to learn. Also alot of English words you can't sound out properly like knight. Notice how cut and put end the same but don't rhyme? It's not exactly helpful for a foreigner. What if you gave an English book to a Japanese person? I'm sure the same thing would happen.

I can speak, write and listen in english too. Just saying its a pretty unlogical language. There are no pattern to follow unlike in Japanese. Japanese isn't that much of a big deal, each character does have a specific sound, but ONLY that sound.

 

Alot of you guys all this stuff about characters, but to a foreigner English letters ARE characters.

Ohh and I'm only going by all the languages I have learnt (English, Jap and Hebrew). I can't judge other languages if I haven't even tried to learn it.
