Guest CVilleBerg Posted March 23, 2012 Share Posted March 23, 2012 Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool first brought Alureon.A to my attention. The scan seemed to indicate it was "partially removed", whatever that means. The other programs I have, McAfee and Windows Defender, seemed to not notice it. Alureon seems to be preventing an Automatic Update from Windows. (Not all updates, just a specific update. It's being referred to as an Error FFFFFFFE.) I recently downloaded Security Essentials, hoping this might fix the problem. It tells me the removal action was applied successfully, but at the same time says that some threats could not be removed. What can be done to permanently remove or quarantine Alureon?
