having trouble with computer not responding over time

hello, im having trouble with my desk top not responding to anything i click on after a while. the mouse still moves freely but nothing will open. i have the dump ram cache short cut but not sure if thats the real issue with it. have done virus scans,

malware, spyware. comes up with nothing wrong.

any suggestions or ideas of what it could be?
