Help To Change LPF

How can we change LPF and make it more interesting again?

1) Facelift. This site needs a visual overhaul. Yes that includes banners for those that want more variety. That gives those in the art department reason to get involved.

 

2) Cyphon out non-contributing members. Those that sign up and never come back, get rid of. Like an email account membership should have an inactivity clause. Don't contribute even a little in a month or two or whatever bye-bye, come back again later if you really feel that way inclined.

ALSO as a side, give the long serving members a reason to remain. Not necessarily give them any greater status than just members, but have a separate area for faithful members. I don't know what would make it so appealing, but like kids being told to stay away from the cookie jar, if newer members are excluded until a certain post count they might try harder to get in. Just a thought.

 

3) Revamp the mods and admins. Who exactly is in charge and who's not with us anymore? Who's leaving? Who's come back? The little section on the right that tells us who's in and who's new needs more emphasis. Again I throw out that idea of evolving the disused chat to a real time chat box. That way we can see who's in and send messages straight away without searching threads. Might keep the members more inclined to stick around and chat rather than CHOKE THE THREADS WITH SPAM that no one seems to be keeping track of!

 

4) LPF Awards. Rather than leave this up to those dubiously in charge to agree set a date every year and stick to it. Regardless who's in charge give the site a staple of security. If people see this as a regular event you may just get regular visitors to this site - funny that. I for one would be willing to help on this regard if anyone's listening. Even if we start with mini awards to whet everyone's appetites, hold bi-annual awards, or monthly member awards, or only best member award once a year, whatever! Just do something for the love of god and stop digressing over it.

The LPF awards should be on.

I honestly cbf with LPF anymore personally.

Im to busy these days, and have other intrests.

since we dont have active admins/owner nothing ever changes.... so just some threads like hte red room get us going. Guess we need more of that :>

I don't know personally - and never been in red room *shrugs* Curiosity hasn't gotten the better of me just yet

 

As far as livening this place up a bit, that's a bit hard. A while ago when we had the revamp things seemed to pick up a little, but then the novelty wore off and it just went back to being the same-old, same-old. New face, but not much had really changed in spite of that.

The news page for instance on the home page used to be regularly updated. Now again I think the novelty's worn off. Used to be I only had to log on here and get the basic gist of the latest LP news but now I have to keep checking back to LPTimes. That's one thing that needs addressing I think, get rid of that wasted space at the front. Maybe have a new thread instead where an admin or owner randomly selects someone's work as a temporary cover page for the day or the week, wouldn't change much but might give the artistically minded members something to aspire to/keep them preoccupied, even for a little while *shrugs*

 

Also the chat was a good idea in theory but people, so far as I knew, rarely used it. Maybe we need to incorporate it more with the rest of the site. Instead of having it as a tab up the top that can be virtually ignored why not have a chat window on the main page so people can instantly chat just by logging on to the site, members I mean, that's possible isn't it? I've seen it at other LP sites. Just a thought. I'm spit-balling here seeing as no one else is really coming up with anything much constructive.

 

LPF awards I thought were a good idea but again were viewed by some as a kind of 'popularity contest' - Personally I like the idea but again without any real enthusiasm from the members and staff alike it won't go anywhere - and they don't last long enough to keep general interest in the site prolonged. It's a band-aid solution, but hey, it's a start. And I think more people like it than not. Might be something worth investing in?

What about mini awards? Monthly awards. Not so many categories but just a basic few. Reminds me of school way back in the day when we were given stickers for good behavior! :lol: I'm not suggesting we start giving stickers away, or use bribes, but say have like 5 main categories or something, most popular member, thread, contributor, etc for each month. Give them a banner to put beneath their name or something, it's nothing major but hey, sort of like the LPF awards only more frequent...?

 

Aside from that I don't know what to suggest right now. I'm just throwing out general ideas that may or may not be feasable. With many long time members leaving morale seems a tad low so a change can't hurt, visually or otherwise. And, of course, the bottom line is that for any forum to work it needs the cooperation of it's members. Without contributions it will be boring. If you spend your time lurking then wonder why the place is starting to feel a little dead it might be because too many are lurking or doing the exact same thing all the time and expecting some miraculous change.

 

As some smart individual once said, if you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem. Food for thought

Completely. I don't come on nearly as much as before. Actually I do come on, I just don't have anything to post.

 

We should get like SOTW back or something. O.o Even the art forum is completely dead.

IMO, Hmm LPF awards and all that would be a temporary solution to the issue.

The only thing that really cures the boredom around here is when LP bring out a new album, and even that is temporary. We need to really get all the members more active, and more involved with each other.

i actually think that we should get in touch with the owner and ask out fucking site back.. do a revamp. New elites, new mods, new ACTIVE admins (like jeezy). Get some life here. We can like buy the site back. We make a LPF Trust where we all donate some and buy and maintain the site. Get a new layout and shit. and im serious, ill donate. This is my internet home, im tired of seeing LPF fade away cause of inactive admins/owners/mods, i mean we got so much potential, we are like that outcast LP site with fun members that dont go "OMF OMF dont diss me LP ya dick heads". We have good art members, good writers and funny people (not to mention our hotties *coughLBScough*). But all the good members are slipping away, and even if most people dislike LP they still come here cause we got spirit and its fun here, we also got members on both side of the fence so debating is always fun.

I'd donate! Maybe have a few more mini competitions like a GH Contest, or a Song Contest or remix contest something along like the SOTW things, more polls.

LPF should get tickets to the Project Revolution Tour, and give them away in some contest.

The LPF awards usually don't award those deserving. It doesn't work with such a larger community and as such, should be scrapped.

I agree with Gradon, at least with the forum layout, and new mods elites admins etc. Put all the inactive people into a new group, like honourary members or something, and give people who actually contribute to the site the credit they deserve.

 

And I'm going to start the SOTW up again if enough people want it..

well. okay. let's rephrase that. oops. sorry jojo. didn't know.

I can only look at that banner only a number of times until I think, hey, we need a new competition to make another banner (and hopefully another version of LPF) for the sake of having some interesting competition.

 

We need like another poetry competition as well. The last completely died because no one bothered to put up their entries and Rissa didn't bother to check the entries.

We should have a rotating banner that changes everytime the page is loaded.
