Guest manusch265
I have been infected with the Alureon trojan - and am not sure for how long. I think I have removed it, but knowing how it hides and regenerates from all the reading I have done, one suggestion was to fix the MBR as a reinstall of the OS wouldn't take care of it if the trojan is hidden in the MBR. When I attempt to do so, I get a warning that my computer appears to have a non-standard or invalid MBR and that if I continue it my damage my partition tables. One computer isn't partitioned, the other is. I confess that I am a chicken as I really dont' know that much about computers and don't want to do further damage, but need to get rid of this. Thank you for any help you can give to me on this! I have done many scans with BitDefender, Combofix, Microsoft Security Essentials, TDDSKiller, and SpyHunter. Combofix found three or 4 items with the actual name Alureon on it on my laptop and SpyHunter found quite a few others. None of the other scans detected anything. Nothing has been detected on my other desktop computer, but I'm convinced that one is infected as well. I may have left out other things I have done - there have been so many! But these are the most recent that seem to be moving me in a forward direction? Again, any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!! Continue reading...
