how can i backup SMSes from HTC P3400i and restore in HTC Imagio (both being Windows phones)??

am just planning to buy HTC Imagio but i need all of my SMSes. So i need to know how i can change my handset without causing myself any loss of text messages. Is sync'ing on the desktop with outlook a good solution?? Suggest if there's a better solution which ensures restoration of my HTC P3400i phone messages to the new Imagio. thanks a ton
