How can I make Windows work, when I want to paste to a document? It keeps saying it has encountered

I am trying to cut and paste to a document. I highlight the information I want to copy, open the microsoft word processor blank document page. I right click to paste and it says it has encountered a problem and has to shut down. And it does. This has been happening since I got it back from HP.
