I can't install Microsoft Security Essetials om my laptop.

I have windows XP, and I tried to install MSE. The installation program starts running. After a few seconds,it disappears and I don’t get any message saying that it was installed or even an error message. I think I also had the MSE intalled before, but my boyfriend deleted it. How can I fix this problem?
