IE7

Hi,

I have a problem with the security settings in IE7. Everytime I reboot my

settings change and I have to restore them.

I have the settings set in custom level to allow programmatic clipboard

access but it disables that and some other settings after a reboot.

Any idea what I can do to make my settings stick?

Is your computer a domain member (member of a corporate network)? It sounds

like the network is applying policies to it. That would cause those settings

to change.

BTW, if you permit programmatic clipboard access you are aware that any web

site you go to can read what is on your clipboard?

I am on a home network, my computer being the main.

If this is the issue how do I fix it?

No, if you are on a home network, that's not your problem.

At this point, the first thing that comes to mind is if some security

software is blocking it. Norton 360, for example, purports to close several

"vulnerabilities" in Internet Explorer, although it is unclear what exactly

that means. Could that be your problem?

No, I don't have Norton. I do have Windows Live One Care.

It could be the same thing, although I don't know for sure. Do you really

need that setting set?

Yes, it is most annoying when you have to make several posts in a forum and

the window keeps popping up for permission.

I have copy and paste enabled but that window for the clipboard asking

permissions still comes up. It is time consuming enough to make several posts

without that window popping up.

Theresa, I don't know what could be causing this. The best I can tell you is

to try removing OneCare, but I don't like that solution. You could try

posting in an IE newsgroup. They may know.

Sorry, I wish I knew what was causing this.

When I was using One Care it kept setting my IE7 settings back to default

when I rebooted. This occured with Vista and XP. There is more about it in

the One Care forums, but I had to remove One Care to take care of this and

other problems.

Thanks Kentsyl. Theresa, why don't you try removing OneCare and see if that

works? At least that way you know what is going on.
