Cannot start Outlook in Office 2007

Outlook 2007 on Vista Home Premium suddenly won't open (in use for 2 years). Delivers error message, "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. Invalid XML, the view cannot be loaded."

How fix? I have tried opening the "outlook.exe/safe and outlook.exe/resetnavpane commands with no success.
