Simple upgrade from IE8 to IE9 from MS web causes IE to be non-launch-able. 32bit - nothing. 64bit - paints window border, then nothing.
Uninstall IE9 update fails ( Control Panel>Programs and Features>Installed Updates>Windows Internet Explorer 9>Uninstall ) After restart, popup message just says "Failed", no information.
Re-install report success, but after restart, same thing.
Disabled antivirus, no improvement.
Vista Ultimate 64 SP2 Fully updated, straight-forward, uncomplicated installation, recent clean install to fix .net 4 update failures.
This hardware runs three other operating systems with no problems.
MicrosoftFixit50778.msi fails.
