snafu Posted December 7, 2009 Share Posted December 7, 2009 Life seems to progresses in the turning of a page. When you were young, you were invincible. You couldn't think past Friday. The girlfriend you couldn't live without is just a memory today as your slapping boots with the girlfriend that you are with now and that you just wont' be able to live without. I'm on my second marriage. When I marry I believe in my vows "death do us part". As time has past and I'm on my second "death do us part" part in life snd I start to evaluate my life and the time I've spent on this earth. I do love my wife no question...but I start to think. Is it just because I'm going through this page of life brought on by turmoil with my daughter and granddaughter coupled with two brother-in-laws out of work? Is it becase a close friend of mine just came out of remission from hepatitis C? Kyle is like a brother to me and when he said all he could do was weep for hours after the news was that I wept for him too. Which I did. Now I'm looking back to see why my wife and I have stayed together for so long. It's either the vow's we have promised and or the son we needed to raise. Life is just the turning of a page... and I am starting to love my wife all over again. PS: yeah I had a few beers so sue me... timesjoke Posted December 7, 2009 Share Posted December 7, 2009 I don't think I will ever go get the "piece of paper" with Tami but I do love her with all my heart. Like you said, it seems we go from person to person each time believing "this is the one" but more often than not that is not the case. I think part of the reason relationships don't work out is we are more of an instant gratification society these days and when things are not working out, we cut and run from just about everything when we used to work harder on fixing problems. Another big problem as I see it is we are bored too easily. We have too much time on our hands and instead of working an entire day just to prepare a meal for the family, now we have dinner done in 15 minutes, toss the dishes in the washer and have nothing else to do. So off to the idiot box we go to find entertainment to fill out our evening and what do we see? Certainly not happily married couples living together for 50 years. I hope things can last this time, I have never known a woman who didn't play mind games before and I will stay with her as long as she will have me. My wife is only 45 and she's looking hotter than the day I married her. I'm telling ya I got to catch up to this women.
