Charges Filed in Sexually Assaulted of 5-Year-Old Girl
Aug 27, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS - A 19-year-old man has been charged after police say he
sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl. Jesus Valenzuela is charged with
burglary, child molestation and theft.

Early Friday morning, police were dispatched to an Indianapolis home on the
report of a burglary. The mother at the home told police she woke up
sometime after 4:00 Friday morning and saw the glass sliding door in her
office open to the outside.

She started looking around the house and when she opened the door to her
daughter's bedroom, police say she found a 19-year-old man sexually
assaulting her five-year-old daughter.

The mother grabbed the man and pulled him off her daughter and tried to
restrain him. She woke up her older daughter who was also sleeping the same
bedroom and told her to call the police and to get her 18-year-old brother
to help her hold the suspect. He came in and they were both able to hold
onto the suspect until the police arrived minutes later.

"He was essentially trying to rob the victims as well. I'm not sure what his
primary motive was, what he was there to do first. But he did attempt to rob
the house and commit the child molestation of the five-year-old girl,"
Marion County prosecutor Carl Brizzi said.

The five-year-old child was transported to Riley Hospital for examination
and treatment. She was later released back to her mother to go home.

Valenzuela has been charged with a Class A felony Burglary and two Class A
felonies for Child Molest. He does have a prior conviction for theft.
