Interpol - Our Love To Admire

The new Interpol fully leaked.

With this being major label and the first single, Heinrich Maneuver, arguably the worst thing they've done, things didn't look good for this third album. To be honest, the outlook for the rest of the album was very bleak.

I will say the opener Pioneers To The Falls is AMAZING and that its beginning gave me the same goosebumps that I got from the opener off of TOTBL (their one and only great album).

Will report later on the rest.........

How are things on the west coast?

Pioneers to the Falls is the best song and their best album opener.

Wrecking Ball and Lighthouse are the other great tracks.

Mammoth is pretty good.

The rest is total suckage and forgettable.

"Pace Is the Trick" had me tricked like I was about to hear Pioneers all over again. Nowhere near as good as Pioneers.

Interpol has run dry on decent ideas and material.

I thought the Heinrich Maneuver was pretty good lol, but I still prefer their older stuff such as Slow Hands and Evil.

Those are other songs that I don't like too. They're are just boring songs without much substance and really freakin terrible lyrics. Esp Heinrich Maneuver. At least Evil was an ok pop song. Terrible video though.

Just wish Interpol would have let go a little more and actually put together a whole album that's worthwhile. If they needed another year to experiment, then so be it. Just show some effort by not just putting up half assed conservative dark pop songs sprinkled in with a few moments of brilliance. They realy could have put together something special if they built up better material around Pioneers, Wrecking Ball, and Lighthouse. This is truth.

--------------

Track 1 (Pioneers To The Falls) = Turn on the Bright Lights type of Interpol

Last 2 tracks (Wrecking Ball and Lighthouse) = a dfferent and more experimental side to Interpol

All three of these songs above are amazing.

All the other tracks in between are Antics revisited unfortunately. The bad parts of Antics at least, which is most of it.

HM is easily one of the worst songs of the year, let alone the worse song on the album. If you like HM, then you will like a good chunk of Antics which I don't care for much. Turn on the Bright Lights, their debut, is their only worthwhile album. A great album actually. PTTF is more TOTBL-esque in terms of that dark reverbery sound.

TOTBL = 9.2/10

Antics = 6.0/10

OLTA = 5.0/10

The only reason I give OLTA even as high as a 5 is because of how much I like the opener and the last two songs. I really like morricone guitar playing, so Lighthouse easily drew me in.

I'm surprised you would want to check out their older material if you only like two of the songs on OLTA.
