ETHNIC CLEANSING AND SEGREGATION
Bush's surge escalated ethnic cleansing.
"The map above demonstrates that Shias have been gradually taking over
all of Baghdad (noted by the green mass that now covers much of the
city), wiping out Sunni communities that stood in their path. Center
for American Progress analyst Brian Katulis estimated that Baghdad,
which once used to be a 65 percent Sunni majority city, is now 75
percent Shia.
The ethnic-cleansing murdering spree is said to be worse than the
genocide in Rwanda in 1994 and is approaching the number who died in
Cambodia's infamous "Killing Fields" during the Khmer Rouge era of the
1970s.

OIL CONTRACTS
Polls indicate Iraqis (Shiites and Sunnis) are united against foreign
countries taking control of their oil. There are reports that members
of parliament have been offered $5 million each to pass oil law.
Members of parliament are afraid they'll be bombed or arrested if they
oppose the oil law.

LEGISLATURE IS FRAGMENTED--IRAN IN CONTROL ROOM OF IRAQ'S FUTURE
"The speaker of Iraq's fragmented parliament threatened Tuesday to
disband the legislature, saying it is so riddled with distrust that it
appears unable to adopt the budget or agree on a law setting a date
for provincial elections. . .
As the United States begins reversing the expansion of troop strength
-- back to the pre-surge levels of about 130,000 -- Iran has quietly
placed itself in the control room of Iraq's future. Iran has major
military and political tools available to it until U.S. forces
eventually leave and has sunk deep roots inside the country's fertile
Shiite political power structure.
While the Americans say they have seen a decline in Iranian funding
and arming of rogue elements of Muqtada al-Sadr's Shiite militia, six
key Shiite figures from across the political spectrum have told The
Associated Press that Iran is pressing ahead in several directions."
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is planning on visiting Iraq
next month. "Shiite leader Moqtada Al Sadr's movement, supported by
Iran, welcomed the upcoming visit. Talal Al Saeedi, a Sadr spokesman,
said: "Ahmadinejad's visit is important to supporting Iraq to banish
the American occupation and fight terrorism."
