2008 Elections are on their way and two candidates that seem as though they may take the next office are either not male or not white. Barrack O'Bama and Hillary Clinton are both heading for office. Barrack is African American and Clinton is a female. Both would be a first in the America to become president. Now I know the foreigners might not exactly get the great complication of inheriting a black person or female as president but it's tough. 75% of the US is white and racism is still a strong factor in the U.S. We don't really have lynching happening like it used to back in the 60's and later but it shows up behind closed doors in family talk and in subtle ways all the time. Black people have always been treated like **** there is no way around it. Of course now there is no arguing that they have way more rights and are waaay better off than say 200 years ago, but lets face it affirmative action only works so good when your parents where forced into section 8 projects. And yet the highest crimes do occur in the minority region so would the nation or the world in fact be ready for a president of color. I think Clinton has it easier. While I still think a female president would be a revolutionary step forward i believe that since she is white she'd have an easier time than barrack not saying that she'd have it easy though.

anyways so what do u think?

Honestly I don't know, I personally would like to see Barrack O'Bama get it (he is perhaps the best canidate for the people). But in all honesty I don't know if this country will be ready for that, Hillary is on the same note. I guess we will find out though won't we?

I don't think the country is ready, for either. Although, I would like to see myself as more of an independent (not really in any party), i normally find my self swaying towards the Republicans [Not that I can vote, but if I could]. But, I would like to see someone like O'Bama or Hilary take presidency just because I think it would be a great leap for our country, even if we aren't ready, there is no better way to become ready then a culture shock such as one of them getting presidency. Also, I would choose O'Bama over Hilary anyday..

I'm not sure as for America as a whole and i'm not too infatuated with politics, but I'm sure there are definitely people who are unhesitant to place their votes for someone because they are black or a woman. But of course there are those who simply would not... for no good reason in my opinion.

i'm all for a black president, i don't really care, but as for female.

i don't think that's a good idea.

females tend to get more emotionally attached than men.

I think it would be fine to have a minority or a female win... in the US ready now? Well see. Im ready. I wouldnt say its overdue, but I think the time is right.

Im all for Obama... no so much Clinton though, not because shes a female, I just think shes crazy. :p

Yet the highest crimes do occur in the minority region.
Thats not only because they are minoritys though, its because they are poor, and its hard to get out of that situation. No money = poor education = no jobs = no money. Its a loop that creates a bad environment.

I reckon it would be an interesting experiment, despite it being reality. I duno, I never liked Bill, and dont think his wife would be any better. Plus I think Obama has a stronger will, but I'm not aware of all the facts, since being stuck out of the US media down here in NZ. I must say, NZ's current prime- minster is a woman, a **** she has does so many bad things... EG: legalized hookers, and banned child smacking...

True, people are often too ignorant to realise why things are the way they are somtimes. And there are still alot of rascist ******** out there. Im sure its alot less with our generation than with previous ones, but we arent really the majority of the votes yet.

Well, Bill did some pretty good things. I dont know all the details since I was kinda young to care at the time he was in office, but I do know he created a large surplus which Bush completely destroyed with his non-stop uber spending. He was also a really good speaker. He probably would have been rememberd as one of the better presidents had he not had the whole Monica Lewinsky scandal. (Which mind you was really his personal life, not really anything presidential.)

Seeing that the majority of the people are swaying towards them it appears the US must be ready. They are both democrats and I think we will basically know our president after the Democratic Caucus (spelling lol?)...

I live in Indiana...we ALWAYS go red (Republican) here and Obama has support. Personally I am disappointed in all candidates. 2008 will be my first year to vote and I might leave president blank O.O but I will NEVER IN 50 MOTHER ******* YEAR WILL I VOTE FOR HILLARY!!! I would personally give Bush another 4 years over Clinton, possibly even Obama.

Though Bill was a good president (yeah he had personal problems but that isn't America's buisness) he was a good president...

judging by the fact that in our newspaper it says that some one posted up 'obama is a ****** and hiliary is a *****' somewhere in the states (i think it was Iowa but im not 100%) i would say that the US needs some more time but its a great step in the right direction.

oh, jona legalising hookers actaully isnt a bad move. firstly, people are going to go into prostitution wheater its legal or not. the best thing to do is to legalise it so that it can be keep under and more close watch than before ensuring that prostitutes can work in secure condtitions which they feel comfortable and not under threat in.(mant prostitures get raped/tortured and murdered here in the UK) i agree that yes prostitution contributes to a broken society on many levels however u have to go with the lesser of two evils.

We've been talking about this a bit in History, since we're studying the 20th century American civil rights movement... I reckon if their ideas are good then vote them in, whatever their colour/***.. it's not about having a black president or a female president or whatever, it's about having a **** good one lol. Yeah I'm not really that well informed on politics but some people in my History class reckon Hilary's dumb haha.
