I had a virus or something on Windows 7 laptop, so I ran security essentials and no viruses showed up. I was going to restore but first thought it would be smart to back up data so I created a recovery media boot & data media and saved it to my external hard drive which already had previous back up files on it. When I saved the recovery media to the external drive, It did not ask to for a folder name to be saved in, but rather just saved the data to my USB external hard drive. All the folders, files & data does not come up anymore, only the recovery media for a restore. Are those files/folders gone now or is there some way to retrieve them?
