In April we had this...

A few days after Obama?s column ran in newspapers around the globe, including in the Czech Republic?s Lidove Noviny, Czech premier Mirek Topolanek termed Obama?s spending policies the ?road to hell.? German Prime Minister Angela Merkel rebuffed Obama?s pleas for more spending programs. French Prime Minister Nicolas Sarkozy didn't pledge any new domestic stimulus.

It?s odd, but the Europeans are lining up with the know-nothing Republicans on the central question of the hour: which is how to revive the global economy.

Now we have this headline...

LONDON ? Government programs to support the auto industry helped Germany and France return to economic growth in the second quarter, rebounds that stoked hopes the recession in the wider 16-country euro area may also end sooner than thought.

Europe's two biggest economies each saw growth of 0.3 percent from the previous three-month period, surprising analysts' expectations for equivalent declines and technically ending their worst recession in decades.

The French and German increases marked a stunning turnaround from the previous quarter, when Germany shrank by a massive 3.5 percent and France contracted by 1.3 percent.

France and Germany tell Obama that they won't try to spend their way out of a recession, and they get out, but the US who does try to spend it's way out of a recession, is still in a recession.

Probably too soon to make a decision.

Your right, it is too early to make too many conclusions yet but I have always said deficit spending impeeds recovery because it stops the natural ebb and flow of the free enterprise system we are based on.

Artificial changes upset the system and it takes a long time for the system to rebalance.
