DaMan
Hi all, So I recently had to do a fresh install on my Vista home premium (x64) machine. Everything was going fine until Microsoft update tried to reinstall KB955430 to clear the way for SP2. When trying to install this I get error 0x80070057 the parameter is incorrect. I've tried safe mode, uninstalling my antivirus, running the SP2 standalone (the first thing it does is try to install 955430 and gives me the same error), the microsoft fix it tool, running the check SUR and an SCF scan and so far nothing has worked. The check SUR didn't find any errors. the SCF results has 2 corruptions: "2012-06-19 13:58:57, Info CSI 00000187 [sR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"settings.ini" of Microsoft-Windows-Sidebar, Version = 6.0.6001.18000, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2012-06-19 13:59:02, Info CSI 00000189 [sR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"settings.ini" of Microsoft-Windows-Sidebar, Version = 6.0.6001.18000, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2012-06-19 13:59:02, Info CSI 0000018c [sR] Could not reproject corrupted file [ml:520{260},l:72{36}]"??C:Program FilesWindows Sidebar"[l:24{12}]"settings.ini"; source file in store is also corrupted" and "2012-06-19 14:07:14, Info CSI 00000332 [sR] Beginning Verify and Repair transaction 2012-06-19 14:07:14, Info CSI 00000334 [sR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"settings.ini" of Microsoft-Windows-Sidebar, Version = 6.0.6001.18000, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2012-06-19 14:07:14, Info CSI 00000336 [sR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"settings.ini" of Microsoft-Windows-Sidebar, Version = 6.0.6001.18000, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2012-06-19 14:07:14, Info CSI 00000339 [sR] Could not reproject corrupted file [ml:520{260},l:72{36}]"??C:Program FilesWindows Sidebar"[l:24{12}]"settings.ini"; source file in store is also corrupted 2012-06-19 14:07:14, Info CSI 0000033b [sR] Repair complete 2012-06-19 14:07:14, Info CSI 0000033c [sR] Committing transaction 2012-06-19 14:07:14, Info CSI 00000340 [sR] Verify and Repair Transaction completed. I just got everything reloaded onto this machine and the thought of going through that process again with the small hope that it'll work next time is unpleasant. Thanks in advance!
