How about when Dr. Phillip Michaels of the CATO institute claimed that global warming couldn't be causing the oceans to rise, because the water level in a glass with an ice cube in it doesn't rise as the ice cube melts (conveniently ignoring the fact that most of the world's ice is on LAND). Guest V-for-Vendicar
Observation, out of 20 points listed below. Libertarian Cato is found to have lied in every instance. Concludion. Libertarian Cato is a Liar. Hardly a surprise as I have never encounterd a Libertairan who wasn't a perpetual liar. This is what Gore says about Lake Chad... "Unbelievable tragedies have been unfolding there and there are a lot reasons for it. Darfur and Niger are among those tragedies. One of the factors that has been compounding this is the lack of rainfall and the increasing drought. This is Lake Chad, once one of the largest lakes in the world. It has dried up over the last few decades to almost nothing." "Cato" <catoni52@sympatico.ca> wrote > ERROR 7 > Hurricane Katrina "man made" Which is lie # 7 for Cato This is what Gore says about Katrina. "And then of course came Katrina. Before it hit New Orleans, it went over warmer water. As the water temperature increases, the wind velocity increases and the moisture content increases. And you'll see Hurricane Katrina form over Florida. And then as it comes into the Gulf over warm water it becomes stronger and stronger and stronger. Look at that Hurricane's eye. And of course the consequences were so horrendous; there are no words to describe it. A Warming of the Pacific surface waters. The ideology is used as an algorithm. All the individual has to do in any situation is to ask what the ideology requires by way of action. The fact that the action may be harmful or the ideology objectively at odds with reality is emotionally unimportant for the individual. What matters is that an answer has been found which is compatible with the ideology. This is especially appealing to the less intellectually curious. Psychologically, political ideologies are akin to religion and their practitioners behave in an essentially religious manner. For example, in the case of laissez faire, its disciples chant "let the market decide" in the manner of Christians saying "God will provide." Those amongst the elite who are not true believers in laissez faire will, in most cases, toe the ideological line because they deem it prudent to do so for their own careers and security. The few who speak out against it are simply sidelined. ROBERT HENDERSON what is the definition of a crank? one who gives out advise that makes no sense at all. what is the definition of a crank? one who accepts, or embraces advise that makes no sense at all. our state and nation have experienced major declines resulting from contemporary conservative leaders and their simplistic ideas. their dour polices regularly fail to connect the dots, let alone comprehend the space between them. richard a. swanson none of the actions required to repair and extricate ourselves out of the laissez faire, and free trade debacles will be done much by government action, it can't. the free market still has way to much power. what will change free market economics, is the markets themselves. they will work their magic just like in 1929, and collapse. that collapse will allow the worlds economy to decouple, just like in the late 1920's. that collapse will do immense damage to the wealthy, it will limit their ability to fund crank science which is used to indoctrinate the herds. then governments can reform the worlds economies to work for all, not the few. it could create much instability, and unleash extremism, but free markets is extremism, so it will be a problem not to let the pendulum to swing to far in the other direction. definition of a cult:Confusing Doctrine Encouraging blind acceptance and rejection of logic through complex lectures on an incomprehensible doctrine, Chanting and Singing Eliminating non-cult ideas through group repetition of mind-narrowing chants or phrases. laissez-faire is a religion. the high priests and their chanters will tell you they can stop bullets, and raise the dead. they publicly announce with pride their adherence to their faith. alan blinder recently did just that, he looked rather pathetic and foolish as the free market implodes the worlds economy. a free market laissez faire economy operates on opaqueness, ignorance, and propaganda. inflation is not up, the core is behaving rather nicely, if you do not need to heat your home, light your home, cool your home, drive to work, require health care, and eat. unemployment is low and dropping, never mind that we are losing jobs, and perhaps unemployment is 10-20% of the population, the statistics tell us otherwise, and all is ok. exports are up, even though orders for factories are dropping like a brick, and factories are moving offshore rapidly. the exports are mostly scrap such as used paper, metals, cow hides, parts that are sent offshore to be assembled and sent back here. we will regain our manufacturing by debasing the dollar, although no country that i am aware of has ever prospered by trashing their currency. oil prices do not matter, we have a service economy. see all of the above. we will retrain our workers, yep, they are still peddling that crap. once you reach a certain age, and it matters not what age, even younger people are not easily retrained, if at all. service is the future of the nation, but, you have to have something to service. the service sector grew from the multiplier effect of manufacturing, now the service sector is shrinking. we will ramp up the schools to compete, but, as trade has become freer, our schools have followed the deteriorating trade deficit. we will become a idea's economy, but, as trade has become freer, our share of the worlds patents is shrinking. the trade deficit reflects our rich economy, but, as the trade deficit has grown, american indebtedness has soared, at all levels, state, private, consumer. you lower taxes on the rich, they will invest in plant and equipment. but, they never said where, china perhaps:) and most tax breaks head for the easiest return on money, the next bubble. tax breaks for the rich, increase revenue, snicker, you mean they measure inflation while ignoring the debt. free trade works, if you ignore the debt and instability world wide it causes. and if you ignore environmental damage it causes, as well as the immense waste of finite resources like coal and oil it takes to ship all of this stuff back and forth so that 2% of the worlds population reaps the most benefits. deficits do not matter, unless you are the ones who inherit the deck chair on the titanic, and are forced into paying up. there of course, is more. but i will say transparency is the enemy of laissez faire, once you breach the high walls set into place by the high priests and their chanting, you will peel away the fog of ignorance, and become amazed at how well they ripped our society and civilization into pieces.
