I really appreciated your input on helping me decide what I wanted El Mamito, sorry we couldn't work something out. These were just too good a deal to pass up. Was hoping these would bolt right to these clamps but like everything else I own, I have to modify to get it just the way I want it . Time to make a visit to my buddy at the machine shop tomorrow and make some longer brackets out of aluminum. Or I'll fab some out of steel here at my shop. What do you mean you hope I don't race with them?
They are spot lights. I upgraded(?) to the PIAA H6M bulbs earlier this year, and while they are much brighter right out in front of the quad, they don't project out as far as the stock bulbs. So, to not feel like I wasted 70 bones on bulbs, I got the spot lights(instead of floods) to really reach out there. I'm only 43, but I noticed this year that seeing in the dark, well...I need more light lol.
Working on longer brackets, so they're mounted to front bumper just to see the difference...wow. Some bright-ass lights. Temporarily wired to headlamps, but since it's on it's own switch I think I'll wire them to another power source and shorten up the harness. HUGE difference. I'm diggin it. They reach way out there too.
Mounted the switch. Going to wire it into h.lamp switch so I can control all lights with one switch, but still be able to turn spot lights off only while riding to and from campsite. Just a little extra wire to tidy up lol.
Finished up wiring tonight. 1st pic shows the connector for the h.lamp switch. Green is ground and brown is power OUT of the switch. Wanted to be able to power all or some lights up, but shut off all lights with one switch if I need to be all stealthy real quick-like:gr_cool:. I'll get the brackets finished up by this wknd hopefully.
Don't have a tig welder at home yet so the welding shop I used to work at whipped these up for me. A little shaping, drilling...bada bing bada boom. Can't wait for next dune trip to try 'em out.
