Mike's Comments In Regards To The Leak

Mike decided to post on the Official Linkin Park Message Board in regards to the leak of Minutes To Midnight -

 

to all our linkin park fans,

 

we heard today that the album leaked...so i guess some of you have had a chance to hear what we've been so excited about. we're both excited and disappionted that you're hearing it right now. here's why:

 

it couldn't be more exciting to give you all new music, especially after all the hard work we put into it. this album was almost a year and a half of experiments, mistakes, inspiration, and careful craftsmanship. we put everything we had into these songs, and want you to hear every second of it. i can't wait for you to absorb all the levels of meaning in the songs, and the layers of music, eventually forming your own ideas about what the songs mean to you.

 

at the same time, a leak leaves out some very important parts of this piece of work. we put months of creative energy into the ART of the record, in the booklet, special edition, and big book...almost as long as it took to record hybrid theory. the album has amazing photos, lyrics, and notes about how the songs came together--it's the visual half of the record. on the other hand, the super-special-edition book is packed with exclusive images, stories of the making of the songs, gorgeous art, the CD and a DVD that tells the story, showing the actual moments of inspiration caught on camera. for me, it's almost hard to imagine anyone really experiencing this album without that part of it.

 

even the song sequence alone is very important. it's WAY different to hear the songs in a random order than to listen to this record from beginning to end. at the very least, if you've already downloaded the songs, do us a huge favor and listen to them in the right order...it'll be way more rewarding

 

...that's all we wanted to say. if any of you want to be patient and hold off on downloading the album, and get the proper experience by checking out the actual piece in your hands, we applaud you for your restraint! and to everyone else who can't wait: we can't help but understand, because we're just as excited about this album coming out as you are. either way, thanks for listening, and being a fan of our music.

I think I'm buying both the special and regular. I want the DVD, but I also want the sick cover of the regular one

I love Mike how he understands why some people downloaded it His a great guy and I will love to meet on tour hopefully... I'm definitely getting the new special edition album when it comes out, Because I love the art work on most of the Linkin Park albums that have come out so I don't think this will be any different If your reading this Mike... Thanks for being so understanding and great job on the new album can't wait til you fully release all the material. :thumbsup:

I'd be pretty annoyed if my album leaked... so it's cool how cool Mike is about this. And I'm sure he's right about the booklet / art etc.

Although I've downloaded the album, I'm still buying the Super Fan Edition and going to see them on tour when they come back to England!

 

I can't help but feeling guilty though..

As I said before I'll buy the album + dvd anyway...

 

about the LPU: a lot of ppl dont like the album and say its shit so if he read it (or LP) I bet it really makes them wonder bc if the LPU thinks its shit what are other ppl supposed to think about it??

But then again, I hear some LPU members being dicks of them selfs saying that we aren't real Linkin park fans because we downloaded the album etc etc... seems like I keep hearing bad things about the LPU... Can anyone tell me If it's really as bad as I hear from others?

well im now a member since Febuary and im not on the boards a lot... a lot of people there are really a**holes just like on the LPMB... but just on the boards... thats why im barely there... but I havent joind for them I joind bc I wanted to have some "exclusive" stuff like the media or the goodies + meet and greet opportunities etc etc... and I personaly joind bc i wanted to be more "near" to the members not other fans... well that too but for that i got some awesome ppl on here

I have held of from joining because I've heard so much bad stuff about it... I really want to join but then again I don't want to waist money for nothing. Can anyone tell me if u get meet and greet opportunities other then the US / UK on the lpu? for instance Australia?

They do, Linkin park know how much the fans support them, think about the video music awards Evanescence was in the lead then Linkin Park just shot right up! So they know in their hearts that we will continue to support them.

It was gonna happen sooner or later. I'm glad Mike's cool with it though, he knows that true fans will buy their stuff.
