I have a Dell Precision 490 with 2 quad core Xeon processors. It appears only one core is being recognized. Only one core shows up in Task Manager, and %number_of_processors% = 1. Further, the performance on multi-core software has really taken a hit.
The driver indicated in Device Manager is ACPI Multiprocessor x64-based PC. The driver version is 5.2.3790.3959.
I am currently running Windows XP x64 SP2. Patches are up to date.
While this may be a red herring, I also recently lost my server service, and had to replace the srv.sys with a copy from another machine. I don't know for sure when I dropped from 8 to 1 core.
