Moldova signs trade, political agreement with EU

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Former soviet republic Moldova joined Georgia and Ukraine in signing a free-trade and political cooperation agreement with the European Union on Friday, turning away from Russia and moving closer to the West. The accord falls short of full EU membership but offers deep economic integration and tariff-free access to the EU's 500 million consumers. (Reporting by Robin Emmott and Adrian Croft)
