[/URL]More than 40 people were rescued off the Yemeni island of Socotra on Wednesday after a cargo vessel carrying islanders home from the mainland sank in the Indian Ocean, authorities said. Several others were still missing after a major search operation in the early hours, President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi said in a statement on the official sabanew.net website. The ship sank northwest of Socotra -- around 350 kilometres (220 miles) from Yemen's south coast -- which has been hit by rare tropical cyclones in recent months.
